Well I've been using just retin-a micro for about 10 weeks now.. It worked
wonders for me. All I use is retin-a micro and lukewarm water when I
shower. Occasionally I get oily, but simply put some Clinac OC around the
T-Zone. The first month or so was tough because it causes a considerable
amount of deep acne to come around places you never knew were hiding and
still I have those left over "red spots" but I have yet to experience any
deep painful cystic acne. Still I get the every week or so slightly
inflamed whitehead around the forehead but it's gone in two days with no
marks. Anyone else experience similar results? Now might be the perfect
time to start seeing you could get through a mild spring weather without any
negative effects retin-a has with serve weather conditions and you should be
cleared up once summer starts.

I have been using retin-A for about 2.5 weeks now and all I can say is that
my acne is a lot worse than what it was when I started. I knew that it
would get worse before it would get better, but I expected that within 2.5
weeks or so I would see definitive signs of improvement. Should I persist
with the treatment? I do not want to exacerbate the problem and leave my
skin even worse than what it was when I started, but then again, I see no
signs of improvement thus far with this method of treatment, and I also fear
that if I discontinue use of retin-A I will be subjected to accutane as my
last alternative and may regret not giving retin-A a sufficient period in
which to work its wonders...

Right now you are at your peak... From my experience my peak started about
the 2nd week and lasted until the 4/5th week, but that was because the red
marks left don't start dulling until that time. Stick with it and try not
to overuse retin-a right now which most people want to do but will not make
it clear up any quicker.

Thank-you xaleb for your very timely reply. I will persevere with this
treatment for another couple of weeks. I do not want to resort to accutane
just yet before giving retin-A a satisfactory go, for I am aware of the
possible mental and physical ramifications of the drug (not to mention I
will have to see a dermatologist and have regular blood work in order to get
the prescription..)

Cheers,
James
