I've googled this topic, but I still have some unanswered questions.

I have been taking 100 mg of minocycline for 6 years. Before that I was on
doxycycline for 2 years. The doxy cleared me about 80%, but the mino was even
more effective, clearing me about 95% with only the occasional pimple for the
first 5 years I was on it. Over the past 18 months, my acne has been getting
steadily more active. Not nearly as bad as when I was a teenager and first
started treatment, but I am not clear like I was when mino was working great.

From what I can gather, acne does not become resistant to minocycline. So my
question is, how come I am getting worse?

I can't blame any other part of my regimen (topical erythromycin and retin a)
because when I was getting good results from the mino, I would go days without
using any topicals and still remain clear.

It's hard to say what's causing it. I would guess it's because your new
acne isn't caused by bacteria. I offer this as an example: antibiotics
kill off the good bacteria in the body. The good bacteria is what keeps the
natural yeast in your body from over growing. Antibiotics can create a
yeast overgrowth and a symptom of yeast overgrowth is acne. This is just an
example of one possible scenario.
