Post subject: hairloss by accutane, not just diffuse, how long for regrowth? Archived from groups: alt>skincare>acne, others (more info?)

I've used accuntane from sept 2002 - may 2003. In may 2003 I turned
20.
I experienced major overal thinning, esspecially in the middle and
front of my head and even balding at the sides.
At the right side of my head my hair regrew in a couple of months. My
hair in general is getting thicker, though I still have lots of weird,
short, curly hairs.
Now, after 9 months, I still have a bald spot on the left (which is a
little bit smaller though). There are a few normal hairs on it and
quite some very very small ones (which have been there for 2-3 months
or so). Will my hair regrow there?
I do not think I have male pattern baldness: the right of my head
would have to be a bit bald too. Also I have seen a little bit of
regrowth.
btw: I'm gonna take extra Biotin as soon as possible, since I read
that may help my situation.
Any information would be much appreciated!! >> Stay informed about: hairloss by accutane, not just diffuse, how long for regro.. |

Hairloss with Accutane, like the other symptoms is dose-dependant.
Many doctors are now reducing the daily dose and just extending the
treatment period. If you take a large daily dose, the side effects
can linger for many months. You should talk to your doctor, because
your hair should be coming back in. He or she may recommend that you
start taking prescription Propecia (finasteride), 1 mg/day, and using
non-prescription Rogaine. Finasteride is also sold as Proscar in 5mg
tablets, which is less expensive if you don't mind splitting the small
pills into 4 or 5 pieces with a pill splitter or razor blade. >> Stay informed about: hairloss by accutane, not just diffuse, how long for regro.. |
