Hi Guys Smile
Just thought I'd get your opinion on my new treatment. Been
taking Doxcyline for a good year now... I think its finally lost its
kick, so went off to the doctor and asked for an increase in dose or
something new. I was taking 50mg of Doxycline per day and using
Isotrex gel before I went to bed. The doctor has now given me
Tetralysal 300 (lymecycline) one per day, and has told me to continue
using the isotrex gel. Has anybody used these pills before, are they
any good? and are they much better than the Doxcycline. Thanks for
your help.

This message has been here for some time now... has any one got any
information or has no one taken this type of treatment before? Thanks
Adam

I am not aware of any clinical trials comparing doxycycline
and lymecycline. They are both 2nd generation tetracylclines.

But,

-one trial found minocycline to be superior to lymecycline for
controlling acne
PMID: 11867968

-one trial found that doxycycline has a higher phototoxic
potency than lymecycline
PMID: 8148278

-and one trial found lymecycline was as effective as
minocyline but cheaper:
PMID: 12695127
