Hi all.
I've got 4-5 acne scars on my cheeks and am looking for possible
treatments. Anyone have any recommendations? I don't really want any
major surgery..
Anyone know anything about collagen injections? (Pros/cons?) Although
not permanent, they seem like the quickest and cheapest option.
Thanks >> Stay informed about: Acne Scars |

You can use the AHA (e.g. 30% glycolic acid preparations), which can give
you immediate and deeper peel. Another alternative is medical
microdermabrasion a more gradual & more superficial peel, and maybe not for
deep scars, and requires several sessions. You can also try manual
microdermabrasion (same crystals used but in a cream), and also with
superior results.
Collagen injection uses a series of injections of bovine collagen, a
protein which maybe allergenic to about 3% of the population. Allergy
testing is necessary prior to the procedure. And it has been reported that
even the allergy test is not a perfect indicator, and a small percentage of
patients who do not react to the test have developed allergies during the
course of treatment. Collagen allergies can take the form of rash, hives,
joint and muscle pain, headache, and, in a few cases, severe reactions that
include shock and difficulty breathing. The "filling effect" lasts 3-12
months, so you will need recurrent visits to the doc's office.
Hope this helps,
GV

If they're not deep scars, the microdermabrasion stuff works. The
neutrogena stuff worked for me. It took about 2 weeks to notice the
change though. >> Stay informed about: Acne Scars |
