I had cystic acne for about 3 years (age 42-45) and had tried
antibiotics, to no avail. Plus I was mildly allergic to most of them.
I finally went on 'Tane and it worked immediately and with minimal
side effects. I'D HAVE GONE ON IT SOONER BUT HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT.
But now I'm noticing the wrinkles in my face are suddenly more
pronounced. I am wondering if having bad acne for those few years might
have "weakened" my skin and made me more prone to wrinkles (although I
thankfully have no acne scarring).
I'm 45 now anyway, so I'm no spring chicken, but my family does seem
to be rather youthful looking for their age, as was I, until after the
bout with acne.
That is admittedly just speculation but I thought I'd throw this out
as food for thought for those who entertain thoughts of obtaining
'Tane--I recommend you don't delay because of...(1.) the potential for
scarring, AND (2.)the potential of getting wrinkles earlier than you
would've due to the weakening of skin ravaged by years of acne.
Just my opinion--any derms out there want to address this?
