Hi,
I'm 20 years old now and I still have somewhat bad acne around my chin
and upper neck, along with a little bit scattered around including my
chest and back. I first started to get really bad acne around age 13
or 14 and it was at it's worst then; I used acutane and it mostly went
away for a couple years and then came back. Around fall of last year
I'd had enough, especcially it was really bad on my back at the time
and again around my chin, so I took acutane for a few months again and
finished last April. It actually never completely went away I don't
think, but at least I looked mostly clear.
Lately though I think it's getting worse again, especcially around my
chin. I don't think it's quite bad enough for to take acutane again,
but at the same I'm wondering what the hell am I supposed to do?! Will
it ever actually go away? I really thought by the time I reached this
age it would be gone, and yet my face just won't clear and it's getitng
embarassing looking this way. Can anyone suggest anything other than
acutane just to get it to go down again for a while? And also, is this
even remotely normal? Should it mostly go away in the next year or two? >> Stay informed about: I used acutane and it still came back... |

Oh, and also, could shaving have anything to do with it? Or just the
winter and getting less sunlight maybe? (I'm on break from college and
indoors more than usual). For the former, I should note I grew a
beard...not a very good one, but I started around last fall since I
wanted to cover up at least some of the acne while I was being treated.
It didn't look very good so I shaved it over the summer when I thought
I was in the clear. I wonder if shaving has aggravated it, since most
of my acne is around where I shave? >> Stay informed about: I used acutane and it still came back... |

I'm atheist, but if there is evidence that Satan exists it
is the invention of shaving. Learn to love your hair in all
its glory. >> Stay informed about: I used acutane and it still came back... |

I am 30 and have had acne, off and on, since I was 17. So you could
have acne for a long time. If you want tips without visitng a
dermotologist, go to the American Academy of Dermatology Web site or
another similar site and poke around there. >> Stay informed about: I used acutane and it still came back... |
