Hi,

Does anyone out there have any experience with vellus hair cysts? I
was recently diagnosed with these, after decades of thinking I just
had persistent acne. In an odd way, I would rather that I had acne
than these. Lots of people have acne, so there are many treatment
modalities. Unfortunately for me, even my dermatologist, who has seen
lots of acne come and go, doesn't have many ideas about what to do
with my condition. He has been working on removing the cysts by
nicking them with a lancet and then draining them with an extractor.
This is quite time consuming and it does not allow for large scale
treatment. I am set to have a consultation with a laser surgery
specialist, but even that is not an assured route. So does anyone
have any experiences to share? Even the medical literature is quite
thin on this, I have only found about a dozen cases there.

Many thanks.

I thank you for your attempt at answering this question, but I have
already looked at the availible literature. This is one case where
the anecdotes about treatment of the condition actually would be of
great use, since there is so little extant information.
Unfortunately, unlike acne there is very little discussion of
treatment modalities. The casual discussion of remedies for acne that
happens on usenet does not have an analog for vellus hair cysts. This
is a case where usenet discussion would be very helpful to people, so
bring on all your info people!
