The articles contain the usual dismissal of anything that deviates from the
"official" MD party line. Consider (1) Dr. Perricone's new book on acne and
the anti-inflammatory DIET he outlines, which will help many (but not all)
sufferers within the prescribed 30 days. Consider also the "Acne Cure" book
with it's suggested uses of over the counter meds (alpha-hydroxy and 2.5% BP
topicals) which will also help some cases. Not everybody can afford Accutane,
and it's an all-too-temporary "cure" for many. The Perricone material is based
on sound science, whatever you think of his sales pitch.
Perricone's diet is inadequate for my own case because my skin is so oily that
fat-rich fish causes me to accumulate sebaceous cysts. If I follow that inane
drivel on that MD site below, only cleaning a couple times a day, I would be
grossly disfigured with extruding cysts within a month. I wash 1,2,3,4 times a
day at least along with deep tissue massage to stimulate circulation along
with yoga postures that force circulation into the facial region. If you stop
eating junk and guzzling high-fructose corn syrup drinks (read a label, it's
in everything) you can start to catch up with the congestion and inflammation
in the skin. Look, it's a highly individual thing; like the way they dismiss
chocolate, it's based on experiments paid for by Mars candy, corner an MD and
ask them, so what about the COCOA BUTTER?! Think that might make your skin
greasy?
Drink tea, lemonade, clean water and snack on fruits, not candy and cookies.
For a lot of people this alone will reduce your symptoms. Start munching a lot
of salad foods as described in the book Eat to Live and you might just get
well. (because of the anti-oxidants and good mineral content; all the vitamins
in the world won't do you any good if your minerals are out of balance!)
Finally: light to moderate sun exposure is good for you. It kills germs and
fungi.(tons of the people with "acne" that the MDs blame on bacteria are
stressed from chronic fungal-type growth too). If you sit out and bake, even
with sunscreen, it damages the skin.(some of the sunscreens damage the skin
too, look out for "oxybenzone") The fanatics who scream that all exposure is
bad have produced teenagers with a Vitamin D deficiency and unstable nerves
(because lack of natural light on your eyes will tend to produce this effect,
including insomnia.) All you need is the degree of light you would get
reflected off the pages of a book, reading on a sunny day.
