My skin gets very, very oily, especially my face. It gets the worst
during and after eating a meal. I've noticed that certain foods make
it worse than others. Usually the healthier the food, the better it
is. For example; veggies, fruits, deli meat and water don't result in
oily skin. However, pretty much anything else makes my face very
oily. One thing that I found interesting is that regular chewing gum
and breath mints make my face extremely oily, but sugar-free gum and
breath mints don't make my face oily at all. I also found if I don't
put sugar on my bowl of cereal in the morning then my face doesn't get
oily. Could sugar have something to do with why my face gets so oily?
If it's relevant, I am a 24yr old Caucasian male. Thanks. >> Stay informed about: Oily Skin - why? |

That is interesting. What type of skin care do you use? Do you use a
moisturizer? Most of the time oily skin is overcompensting for lack of
moisture. You need to be using a cleanser, scrub, toner and an oil free
moisturizer every day. I am a consultant for a skin care company. I
have a simpple test that can help you to find out which products a best
for your skin. Email me if you want more info.

Thank you for the reply Andrea. I use Clean & Clear Continuous
Control Acne Cleanser once in the morning and once at night. I also
wash my face with water and a wash cloth throughout the day.
In your response you mentioned a few things to try(cleanser, scrub,
toner, moisturizer). Is there any particular brand of these items you
would suggest I start with? Would I use these in the morning, at
night or both? Thanks again for your help.

I would reccomend that you use a cleanser, toner and moistuerizer twice
a day and a scrub every other day. I am a senior consultant with
BeautiControl. Our Skinlogics skin care line is oil free and acohol
free. You can view the products here http://www.beautipage.com/andreafisher
Use warm (not hot) water when you wash and I would also reccolmend that
you not use a wash cloth when you wash your face.
