Has anyone with ocular rosacea noticed a lot of eye infections?

I have quite a few bumps on the inside and outside of both lids of both
eyes, which means I can no longer wear contact lenses as it always feels as
though there's grit in my eyes.

But the last couple of years I've had repeated eye infections, mostly in the
same eye. They usually come on quite suddenly - I wake up one morning and my
eye is swollen and extremely bloodshot.

I've been treating it with antibiotic eye drops which I can get over the
counter. In the past I've ended up at the eye specialist and been prescribed
prednisone eye drops, and at the after-hours doctor and been prescribed
antibiotic eye drops and ointment. All of the treatments have worked, but
it's frustrating that it keeps coming back.

Has anyone experienced this and do you know what sets it off and how to
avoid it in future?

thanks
Rachel

there are quite a few ocular rosacea sufferers on the rosacea-support group. I
don't suffer from it myself, but other there will have some good suggestions.
The best reference I know of is Dr. Geoffrey Nase PhD book on Beating Rosacea
which has a good couple of sections on ocular rosacea and treatments.

Thanks for that. I used to be on the support group, so I'll update my
settings to receive messages and start reading again!

I'd quite like to get Dr Nase's book. Might see if they have it in the local
library.

cheers
