Hi everyone,
I have been lurking quietly here for a few weeks. I suffer fairly
minor acne and over the Christmas period I took a course of Doryx so I
didn't break out at parties, etc.. However this drug causes candida
infections, so I wanted to try something natural. I looked around the
Internet and there was a great deal of information about Vitamin B5.
As I take vitamins anyway, I thought I would give it a go. The dosage
I have been taking is 50mg per day. I also take 50mg of Vitamin B6 and
a Womens multi vitamin each day. The results so far have been NIL
acne. I am currently in the week before menstruation and I have
totally clear skin. I have been taking B5 for about 3 weeks and
despite being skeptical initially, I am completely sold on this
vitamin. Have others had good experiences with B5? I am told that B6
is also excellent for acne, but I am a bit worried about taking these
vitamins long term. I have been told that B6 can affect your nervous
system over a period of time. Any responses would be appreciated.
Regards,

This amount is a smidgeon and probably not enough to make a difference
unless you are supersensitive or something. So odds are that the B-6 is
what is helping. B-6 is known to work very well at helping PMS symptoms
including breakouts (in some).

That amount of pantothenic acid (B-5) is harmless to take forever.
As for B-6, the UL is 100mg, so you're still well under that. The B-6
related nerve damage that occurred at higher doses was reversible when
supplementation was stopped, so if you feel tingling or numbness in your
fingers or toes, stop taking it, but otherwise 50mg is safe.
