Hi
After a decade on the pill, I am starting to see evidence of melasma.
I am on the high dose type and I was wondering if anyone has had
success changing to either the low dose pill or a different brand of
pill and still been able to successfully reverse or treat their
melasma.

Thanks!
Liz

You may want to talk with your doctor about getting a prescription for a cream
called Tri-Luma. If you use this cream you must use Sunblock daily. Its a must
while using Tri-Luma, since it contains retin=a. Even without using Tri-luma
you should use sunblock daily since it will prevent the dark spots from getting
larger and darker.

Can you stay on oral contraceptives and this Tri Luma still works?

Liz, the Tri-Luma is retin-a and prescription strength hydroquione. Yes you can
still use hormonal birth control while using the Tri-Luma. The most important
thing you can do is use a strong sunbock (look for ones containing Avobenzone,
aka parsol 1789) wear a hat and big sunglasses.
