Post subject: Experiences with Generic Accutane (isotretinoin)
Archived from groups: alt>skincare>acne (more info?)

Hi,

Somehow, my monthly Accutane cost has increased from $230 to $430, which is
quite ridiculous (esp. for such a big change in one month). Now the drug is
taking up most of my part-time monthly income (I'm a student). I could go to
generic, which would cost ~$20. The only thing I'm afraid is that the
generic will be less effective and could increase side effects. So far, I
only suffer from mild headaches once in a while, chapped lips, peeling of
skin, and itchy skin. If my suspicions were true that the generic is
inferior, then I would be willing to pay the extra price for the brand. At
least then I would have a better chance of having a successful course of
Accutane/isotretinoin.

Has anyone taken any of the generic(s) and how was their experience? I need
to know within a day so that I can return this batch of Accutane and order
the generic. I believe a generic has been available since spring 2003 in the
U.S.

Thanks for any input,

Ryan

Well I guess mine could be considered generic as it was made by a chemist I
know. Seems to working though, I'm getting the dryness and all that. It's
not that bad though as I'm only taking 20mg a day.

Buddee.
