Post subject: Chronic Folliculitis and dermatologist in Silicon Valley
Archived from groups: alt>skincare (more info?)

Anybody know of a derm in the Silicon Valley area with some experience
with chronic folliculitis?

I have chronic folliculitis on my legs (and occasionally my butt) that
I had been treating pretty successfully between 2000-2005 by washing
every morning with Hibiclens soap. With that regimen, I broke out with
a few lesions (sometimes one or two boils, sometimes a few tiny things
that look gigantic) once every 6 months or so. Otherwise, I was clear.
That was perfectly acceptable to me.

However, since mid-2006, that treatment doesn't seem to work. Since
then, I break out every 6 weeks (or more frequently) rather than every
6 months. It is very demoralizing.

My derm keeps having me try things (Try Brevoxyl... oh, that didn't
work, go back to Hibiclens... hmmm, that didn't work, have you tried
Brevoxyl?). It seems sort of haphazard. My derm is an excellent
surgeon, but a bit less helpful with chronic conditions. I no longer
want to keep trying things and see what fails. I want to treat this
more methodically and get to the root of the problem.
