Post subject: Skin Burn: Ice, Aloe, Mega Vitimin B + A, C, E, Zinc
Archived from groups: alt>skincare (more info?)

Last Saturday, I poured a cup of hot coffee from a stove-top percolator
into a cold glass mug.

The poor mug (my favorite!) shattered, and my beer belly was covered in
scalding hot coffee!

I fell backwards, even felt the blisters forming on my belly.
(thankfully I didn't have a washboard stomach or the coffee would have
gone south, and I'd *really* be in trouble!)

After a minute of recovering from the shock of the burn, I started
applying ice.

I think the ice was the #1 secret here. For about a 1/2 hour I kept
putting ice on it until it was freezing cold.

Then I started the aloe. Some aloe plant, but mostly from a tube of
pharmacy aloe. About five times a day or so. Wore loose shirt.

Kept the treatment up for a few days.

Noticed yesterday I was lethargic, tired, my lymph nodes were all
puffy...

Then I remembered: VITAMINS! [duh!!]

So, last night, took a Mega B Complex. (any brand). Noticed a
difference this morning - less redness. Less sore. Keeping up the
aloe treatment.

Did some reading up: Found that vitamin A, C, E + Zinc also helps out
burns.

So, I took one of those antioxident-mix vitamins with A, C, E + Zinc
this morning.

Just in a past few hours, I can see the redness decreasing further.

Also, I've been putting Neosporin on the broken blisters now and again.

To cover the wound, a loose fitting cotton shirt has been most helpful.
But I have been also using a disposable diaper -- it's just the right
size to cover my abdomen, held on with an ACE bandage. Made the
mistake of covering a big blister with a stick-on bandaid --- it barely
stuck, and where it did, when I tried to peel it off, some skin came
off with it. so -- DON'T USE ADHESIVE BANDAID ON WOUND!

It's not healed up yet, but it's getting there. I don't know if this
information will help anybody, but I thought I'd share it in case it
does.
