Accutane Breakout

I was wondering the same thing... how you got
accutane with a "mild" case of acne. I've had
acne for over 20 years, LOTS of scarring, I still
break out, and yet they they won't write a script
for Accutane for me even upon request. I want an
appointment with YOUR doc.

I suffered the initial major breakout also. for about three weeks. I also
had only moderate, slightly worse than mild acne. I went to derm after derm
and told them I WANT ACCUTANE! After 4, I finally found one that wanted my
money.....she even gave it to me for 10$ a month (my insurance co-pay)!

Get the generic.... no red dye loaded with iodine which might sensitize you
to breakouts.

What I got from my GP was that half doses to start with tend to do
this. He used to treat acne with Accutane, but stopped when the
paperwork became to onerous.
My derm started me on the full dose from day one and told me to stop
all the other treatment on my face. he had me use a soap with 10%BP
for my chest and back. I asked the Derm about the dreaded "initial
breakout" and he dismissed it out of hand. I didnt press him on it.
I worried that stopping the treatment for my face would cause a
massive breakout, but it didnt. I wonder if that would have been the
case on a half dose.
