Archived from groups: alt>skincare>acne (more info?)

Hi ppl,

I am currently using the Galderma Benzac AC wash 5% to treat and
control my acne with only moderate success...I am thinking of applying
either retin-A or differin gel nightly after washing my face...which
one is better or more recommended? Also, will using the benzoyl
peroxide wash neutralise the effects of either gels?

I came across this website that states that benzoyl washes actually
neutralises the effects of retin-A...is this true? If so, does it
also apply to differin? The info can be found at:

http://www.retinamicro.com/dailyroutine.asp, third paragraph...

Hope U guys can help me with my questions...Thanks in advance!!!

I've heard that before (about the retin-a and BPO counteracting one
another). I've never heard it about the differen, but you still have to
watch for excessive irritation.

If you want to use the BPO and retin-a, you can use the BPO in the am
and the retin-a at night.

(retinols are better applied at night because sun exposure degrades them).

I too am very interested in the answer to this question for I have recently
been applying benzoyl peroxide pursuant to advice from other members on this
newsgroup - I hope it has not been rendering the retin-a ineffective.

Well, I'm currently using benzac 5% twice daily, and applying retin-a
at nite after the benzac wash...but it seems to help my acne
condition...even though the retin-a is supposed to neutralised...maybe
it cos the retin-a removes the surface skin? so in the morning, the
benzac wash actually kills the bacteria that the retin-a
exposes...anywayz, just a theory...hehe...

If anyone has any solid proof or theory that benzac actually
neutralises retin-a, please redirect...thanks!!! Btw, anyone knows
where I can get retin-a micro in Australia, Sydney? They don't seem
to have it here...only the normal one...
