I have large, flat, dark acne scars all over my mid and upper back.
They absolutely really awful to the point where I'm embarrassed to
show them to a dermatologist - anyone have any suggestions about how
to get rid of them?

For the record, I don't have new acne growing there.

at the end of the day the best chance you have of getting rid of them is to
see a dermatologist. Theres no point in being embarrassed (easy to say I
know) as they will have seen far worse on a regular basis.
