I've had suprising results with 1g of B5 a day (500mg in the AM, 500mg in
the PM) and was wondering if it's common to eventually have a period where
the effectiveness wears off (the body begins to adapt)? Thanks.

i had pretty good results with similar doses at first.. then it kinda
stopped working? plus i was uncomfortable with megadosing such an
unresearched supplement for so long.
my new experiement is going to be with Niacinamide (topical B-3), not sure
if anyone here has tried this yet.. its been around for a few years with
mixed results (as usual) but i'm going to give it a shot..
will keep you posted.

to follow up.. the reason i'm trying something new.. is because for the past
month or so i have been trying the regime i heard about from lauksna (the
anti wrinkle anti blemish cream).. at first results seemed to be pretty
good.. it made my skin mega oily so i was trying to compensate for that...
but its not at all harsh and really easy to use..
but last two weeks my skin has gone to absolute hell.. so thats another one
by the wayside.. the last time i tried salycic acid.. my skin also improved
for a few weeks then went to the dogs..perhaps my skin builds up a really
fast immunity to it..who knows.. i hate reporting failed regimes.. but this
ones gone and not coming back.. i have a week or so before my niacinamide
arrives..so it'll be interesting to see what i conjur up for tonights wash..
perhaps i will have to dig into the "maybe again" box.

Yeah, i've heard people report good results with the Rx version.

The otc version apparently changed in strength, and IIRC, after they
lowered the otc strength, some users weren't as happy with it anymore.

I tried making my own (from the gmuntz recipe, iirc) and I musta made it
too strong, because it started to burn and I rinsed it off, but it left
me a bit red.. Didn't try to make it again, though.. (I actually wanted
to make a b5/niacinamide/msm topical, just needed to tweak the strengths
of each..)

I think you'll have some results from it, anyway!
