When I tried B5 a couple months ago, I got some insomnia. Now I wasnt
sure if it was the B5 or not causing the insomnia because I started
taking Propecia for thinning hair at about the same time. I stopped
the B5. I think my sleep patterns have improved somewhat, but it could
be that I'm adjusting to the Propecia and could have nothing to dow
ith stopping the B5 (i.e. the Propecia was causing the insomnia, not
the B5).

I want to try B5 again but I'm scared. Not only do I not want the
insomnia to come back, but I've also heard that some people experience
HAIR SHEDDING while on B5! Well, since I'm already thinning, and
already taking a prescription medication to prevent hairloss, the last
thing I want is for my acne treatment to CAUSE hairloss.

Anyway, I'm just venting and wondering if anyone can relate to my
fears. (by the way I was only taking about 2 grams of B5 a day, and no
additional B vitamins, so that might have been part of the problem).

B5 often disrupts sleep.

You can try taking it all before 5pm. Otherwise, sometimes it goes away
on it's own. Taking biotin will help, IF a biotin deficiency is the
cause of the hair loss.

At <2g/day, I noticed hair thinning, but my hair grew faster.. It might
have been interconnected (faster growth=faster "shedding") but I am
pretty sure my hair was thinning overall.. I was taking biotin.

BUT YMMV..

I donì't think it affects hair, you are probably going to loose hair anyway.

I'm taking b5 for about 7 days the only side effects i have are:

1). little bowel movements.. but mostly the first days
2). More vivid dreams
3) More urination, and sometimes when I need to pee I feel a need really
urgent

That's it 1.9.2003 I started
No new zits till that day.

Perfect skin no more oil.

I'm also using from yesterday a L'oreal prudoct with 3 flacons, for
washing/peeling, and other stuff I hope it help
to cancel in few months my scar.

B5: Does it cause hairloss? - uh oh. Thats one thing I CANNOT risk, as I am already thinning somewhat. Some of the reviews I'm reading online show hairloss as a side effect. Is this true or mainly hype/placebo? (i.e. the hair would have been lost anyway)

How long does B5 take to work? - Hi, I've been on 10g B5 (from Holland & Barrat) for 3 weeks and so far I've seen no improvement in acne or oiliness, if anything it's got worse. How long should I expect to wait to see improvements?

UK sources of good B5 powder/caps? - Hi, if you've tried B5 and it worked for you, or someone you know, please let me know the brand (if available in the UK) as I want to use a brand that is known to work. I cannot find the 'Now' brand as recommended by DMax in a separate thread. Do you..

Commerical 'B5 Acne Cure' caps vs. regular powder? - Hi, I've seen a few commercial products offering B5 and other ingredients such as Biotin (useful as B5 depletes Biotin) and other good skin ingredients such as Zinc, all in a ready-prepared capsule. Does anyone have any experience of any of the..

Why can't we take Coenzyme A instead of B5? - I note at http://www.coenzyme-a.com/acne_vulgaris.html that Coenzyme A is the primary deficiency that may cause acne in some. They recommend we take B5 to create Coenzyme A. However my health store sells Coenzyme A capsules. Why don't we just take..
