Well, I'm being a B5 guinea pig.
I ordered a 30-day supply of AcneMiracle, which includes a topical B5 gel.
I'm taking 10g / day B5 and using the B5 gel 3 times / day.
I started October 6th, so I've been on it 13 days.
So far, no side effects from the B5 powder. It tastes terrible, though.
It only takes about 2 drops of the gel to cover my face.

I'm washing with soap from homemadesuds.com. Ingredients: 30 % Emu Oil
,Fresh Goat Milk, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Canola Oil, Castor Oil, Sugar,
Salt, Honey

Then I apply the AcneMiracle Gel. Ingredients: Water, Vitamin B5 (20%), Emu
Oil, Niacinamide, Ester-C, Jojoba Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Xanthum Gum,
Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Biotin, Rosemary Extract.

That's the whole routine. Nothing drying or irritating.
I don't suppose I've been on it long enough to really tell how it's going to
do. I've had a number of small pimples forming under the skin (more than
normal, I'd say), but they all disappear the next day or so without ever
surfacing. It seems to me that the gel just makes them go away. They say
an increase in pimples is normal as the skin "purges", which is normally
over by the 4th week.

I know it's too early to really report anything. I was going to wait until
longer, but I really like the ingredient list in the gel. My nose (which
has big pores which clog very easily) is clear, and my face looks good. I
have a little bit of a glow (I won't say shine because it isn't that bad).
My friend told me my eyes are looking better (37 years old, and I have
terrible crows-feet already).

Just crossing my fingers,

Stuart

The 10g/day will get rid of most of your breakouts for the first six
months. Odds are good, anyway.

Six months?! I thought "they" say to reduce your dose after 3 months? Do you
reduce it only after you start clearing up really good?

Yes, after you've been clear for a few months to a year, should you go
to maintenance. (Of course, if you're having side effects or other
problems, one should go off it immediately. Or if you're hesitant to do
the high dose, you could drop down. But it takes much much longer to get
results at the lower doses for those with moderate or severe acne. )
Neither "I" nor "they" are authorities on this treatment, of course. But
I'm basing my thoughts on reading and observing and discussing this for
like 4 years or whatever its been.

And even then (after you're clear for a few months), one should drop
down slowly (500mg-1gram less a week), to find the maintenance dose that
will work. 2grams a day is just an arbitrary number, you have to find
your own maintenance dose.

Just numbers of observation, but it seems like 25% of people can drop
down to 2g a day and remain clear (after they have taken a higher dose
and stayed clear for a while). 25% of people never get clear, so they
give it up altogether. 25% need to stay on their higher dose (5 or 10 or
20g/day) and 25% need to go Higher in dose after 6 months or a year.

A lot of people jumped on the PA bandwagon 2-3 years ago. Those longer
time uses are beginning to report that it has stopped working altogether
for them.
So the 50% number that could maintain or drop down, may be a changin'..

fwiw, ymmv and all that

I began using PA in 1996 at 10g/day. I maintained that dosage for 4 weeks
(it cleared me up instantly), then dropped to 8g/day, then 4 weeks later
went to 6g/a day. Eventually, I went down to 3g/day and stayed clear until
2001, at which time the acne began creeping up again. I never went back up
in dosage, opting instead to go the conventional medicine route. My
reasoning was that I was no longer oily, which was my problem back in the
90s and which was cured by PA. The acne was inflammatory and (seemingly)
without cause. Conventional medicine only made the situation much, much
worse, so I have been experimenting with alternative meds. Still not much
luck with anything.
Just my experience, for what it is worth.
