I am a male with dry skin, and use Dove soap. I am looking for advice
to minimize the dryness:

1. How often should I wash my face with soap?
2. Other than the obvious, are there any issues with not washing my
face?
3. Should I wash my face with soap prior to using exfoliating cleaner?
Or is that too harsh?

Thanks for any advice!!!

Use our soap. It is non drying, NO TEARS and is gentle so you can use it
every day, several times a day if you want. It is Aloe Vera based so is
great for any kind of skin. You can use it to shave and wash your hands and
body as well as your face.
We also have a scrub which is gentle on your skin so can be used every day.

Hi Mick -

You shouldn't wash your face with soap, it's much too drying. Also, if
you're using an exfoliating cleaner then that should be taking care of
the cleansing part of the face-washing routine.
Also, men have it easy because they exfoliate automatically when they
shave their face.
Looks like you'd benefit from a facial cleanser and a good moisturizer.

Hi Katrina,

If I shouldn't wash my face with soap, what then should I wash it with?

I do use moisturizer and sometimes sunblock; my concern is that if I do
not wash it off,
and just put more on the next day, it will clog my pores and maybe make
my face more dry? How would I best remove moisturizer and other dirt?

Thanks!

One tip when washing/soaping the face: never do it in a downward motion. Do it from the bottom of your cheeks and upwards. Doing it downwards as almost all of us do increases the sagging possibility. Surely we wouldn't want to help gravity and have major face lifts in our golden years, right? Smile
