Hi all,
This relates to a facial skin condition that has me completely baffled! I
have previously had problems with facial ingrown hair without much drama but
in the last 4 months the condition has worsened. Shaving now is a case of
Russian Roulette, some days I have more problems and on other days, no major
problems.
In my desperation I tried a laser treatment (test patch) along both sides of
the jaw but that was only partially successful as the ingrowns seem to have
their own agenda! The laser treatment means those patches are now void of
growth so not shaving is not possible as there will be "bald spots" where
the treatment was made! I like being clean shaven but in recent months, this
has become a real challenge.
Have tried Elicina which is supposed to also get rid of blemishes and reduce
ingrown problems but no significant results! The blemishes caused by some of
the ingrowns are my
major concern as they don't seem to fade? I am using a glycolic acid based
scrub twice a day plus a scruffing lotion and moisturiser. Have tried B5 and
Zinc supplements as well. Are there any effective dermatological treatments
available?
I would appreciate any comments from anyone out there who has suffered the
same problem and how they may have controlled, reduced or better yet,
alleviated the situation!
Thanks kindly! (Please reply in newsgroup)

Have you tried TendSkin?
It's the product most people use for ingrown hair or shaving problems.
(on a side note, I recently read an article about the inventor. He was a
dentist who accidently discovered that an aspirin bases product helped
the ingrown hairs. Now he's helping ($) to move rabbits off Miami int'l
airport. Very cool. )
There's a recipe I've seen on the beautyboards for making your own
(Tendskin). Basically it's aspirin powder in an alcohol and water base
with some added glycerine and (if desired) essential oil for frangrance.
(Actual Tend Skin Ingredients:
Isopropyl Alcohol, Water (Reverse Osmosis), Propylene Glycol,
Acetylsalicylic Acid, Glycerin)

Thanks for the advice and recommendations. I have tried Tend Skin previously
without much success. Maybe Bump Stopper 2 might help my cause?
Perhaps the laser test patch treatment only made things worse? I have
olive-coffee coloured skin so any blemish becomes too apparent.
Cheers

Hi Djv,
I work with a scientist who developed a skincare line that addresses
razor bumps, blemishes, dry skin and fine lines. Basically the
product softens the hair on the face for optimal hair removal, then a
serum is used to shrink pores and fade blemishes, which is followed by
a hydrating creme that protects the skin. We suggest using it
morning/night for about 3-4 weeks to see a change. If this is
something you might be interested in, please email me.

DJV,
What helped me was selecting the right type of razor for shaving plus
using microdermabrasion cream. You can get a razor called the
Feathertouch that is great for eliminating razor burn and bumps
(although it runs on batteries). If you use any other kind of
electric razor make sure it is not a rotary - these tend to twist the
hairs and make the problem worse. The microdermabrasion creams gently
rub off the top layer of dead skin and this helped me a lot - you can
look up some of the creams on Ebay - there are various blends people
sell and some seemed to work better than others for me.
Hope these suggestions help - I know this can be quite a problem.
