Just found this news group, but have had acne for 20 years.

Anyone have experience with Pro-Active? Ive seen all the commercials
but havent heard from anyone that uses it.

I currently using Accutane with high-hopes. I've suffered with acne
for 15 years, all forms, types and stages possible.

Pro-Active worked with my moderate/mild acne during my late teens/early
20's. I saw improvement of the papules along my hairline and chin. It
did not affect my nodular acne and blackheads.

I have dark olive skin, so my acne scars from cystic acne and broken
pustules are brown and reddish-brown. After 6 sessions of
MICROdermabrasion, I saw marked improvement. Less blackheads, more
even skin tone, gradual fading of scars. When I can afford it (and
after my Accutane treatment) I will re-continue the sessions. I
predict that 24-30 weekly sessions will even out my skin completely.

Dermabrasion and (strong) Chemical Peels are very harsh and require
significant recovery time. It is possible to acquire mild infections
during this recovery time. If you have pale, ivory, peach and
light/medium skin tone it is beneficial for skin appearance. The
wrinkles and pink acne scars will disappear. This is my observation
from my acquaintances who are caucasian and pale asians. One caucasian
has a smooth, almost shiny plastic, blemish free look to her skin after
dermabrasion in 1998.
