Okay, my sister and I both have the same problem... whenever we eat or
drink something with high acidity (mainly orange juice or v8.. we get a

breakout on our chin. It's very painful bumps that just kinda..pop up,

become red and inflamed, and hurt.

The problem is, I don't want to give up citrus fruits!!

Does anybody know of something I can do to balance out the acids? If
there's some kind of OTC (or prescription for that matter) supplement
or something that can balance out the acid intake?

Hi Nikki,

Unfortunately, you and your sister both fall into a category of people that
just flat out cannot tolerate citrus. This problem is actually more common
that you would think. My sister and I both have to completely avoid foods
and beverages that contain citrus for the exact same reason as you. Also, my
wife will breakout with acne blemishes if she even looks at a grapefruit.
Smile For us it is 'no citrus--no acne'.

We have yet to find anything that can combat this problem, and we all LOVE
citrus fruits.

There is no connection between citrus and acne. Your breakouts are merely
coincidental. Had you eaten chocolate instead, you would blame acne on
chocolate. (I knew a guy who discovered a pimple right after writing an
exam, and he blamed it on the exam.) You can abstain from citrus all you
want; eventually you will have a breakout anyway.
